Cornell Outdoor Education (COE) holds an annual used outdoor gear sale, traditionally on the first Saturday in December, on the Cornell University campus.
This popular community event is an excellent opportunity to buy or sell cross-country skis, boots, poles, winter clothing, backpacks, and other outdoor equipment.
Buying: Browse a wide selection of new and used gear, often at prices well below retail. Arrive early for the best selection!
Selling: Cornell typically accepts outdoor equipment on consignment. Sellers drop off equipment in advance, and a consignment fee applies.
📣 Stay Tuned! We'll share the confirmed date, location, hours, and equipment drop-off details through our CNSC Google Group as soon as more information becomes available.

Poshmark is an online marketplace where individuals buy and sell new and used clothing, footwear, accessories, and other eligible items. You can shop or sell through its website or mobile app.
For cross-country skiers, Poshmark is particularly useful for finding ski jackets, pants, base layers, gloves, hats, and ski boots.
Create a free account at Poshmark.com.
Search for equipment using terms such as cross-country ski boots, Nordic ski jacket, or a particular brand and size.
Review listings carefully. Examine photographs, descriptions, sizes, and condition.
Ask questions. Contact the seller for measurements, additional photos, or information about wear and tear.
Buy or negotiate. Purchase at the listed price or use the Make an Offer feature to negotiate.
Complete your purchase through Poshmark. The seller ships the item, and tracking information is provided.
Tip: Check Poshmark's current buyer protection and return policies before purchasing, particularly when buying footwear or technical clothing.
Create an account and select Sell.
Take clear photographs showing the item from several angles, including labels, sizing information, and any defects.
Write a detailed description with the brand, model, size, condition, and other useful information.
Set your asking price. Buyers may purchase at that price or submit offers.
Ship your item. When it sells, follow Poshmark's shipping instructions and packaging requirements.
Receive your earnings through the payment options available on the platform.
Creating an account and listing items is generally free. Poshmark charges selling fees and may apply shipping or other transaction charges.
Before buying or selling, review the platform's current fees, shipping policies, and payment terms.
Search by brand: Fischer, Rossignol, Salomon, Madshus, Swix, Craft, and other Nordic ski brands.
Know your sizes: Clothing and footwear sizing varies by manufacturer.
Check boot compatibility: Not all cross-country ski boots work with all binding systems.
Compare listings: Look at similar items to evaluate condition and asking prices.
Check shipping restrictions: Full-length skis and poles may exceed package-size limits.
Keep transactions on Poshmark: This helps preserve applicable buyer and seller protections.
Poshmark is best suited for ski clothing, accessories, and some footwear. For full-length skis and poles, our CNSC Google Group or Cornell Outdoor Education Gear Sale may be better options.

Whether you're buying from another club member, shopping at Cornell's sale, or purchasing online, keep these points in mind:
Boot and binding compatibility: Make sure they use compatible systems, such as NNN, Prolink, or SNS.
Proper ski fit: Ski length and stiffness should suit your weight, skiing ability, and intended use.
Classic vs. skate equipment: Skis, boots, and poles differ between these techniques.
Condition: Inspect ski bases, bindings, boot soles, and pole straps for excessive wear or damage.
Ask questions: Find out how old the equipment is, how it has been used, and whether it has been maintained.
Seek advice: Experienced CNSC members may be able to help you determine whether a particular setup is suitable.
Buying and selling used equipment saves money, reduces waste, and helps more people enjoy cross-country skiing.
