Our 2027 day trips will take us to some of Central and Northern New York's favorite cross-country skiing destinations.
We'll choose each location based on current snow and trail conditions, giving us the best opportunity for a great day on skis.
Osceola Ski & Sport — Osceola, NY
Located in the heart of Tug Hill's snowbelt, Osceola Ski & Sport is a favorite for its abundant snowfall, welcoming Nordic atmosphere, and variety of terrain. Offers groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing, along with ungroomed trails for those seeking a more traditional experience.
Highland Forest — Tully, NY
Known as the "Adirondacks of Central New York," Highland Forest features scenic wooded trails and rolling terrain closer to home. Primarily suited to classic skiing, with some ungroomed trails and limited skate skiing opportunities depending on snow conditions.
Osceola Tug Hill XC Ski — Osceola, NY
Another Tug Hill favorite, offering an extensive trail network through beautiful snow-covered forests. Skiers can enjoy groomed classic and skate skiing trails, along with ungroomed routes for additional exploration.
Something for Everyone! All three destinations above offer terrain for skiers of all abilities, from beginners to experienced Nordic skiers. Each also features a warming lodge, snacks, and modest trail fees — ideal for spending a full day on the trails, taking a break, and enjoying time with fellow skiers.
Depending on snow conditions, we may venture somewhere different, such as Winona State Forest in the Tug Hill or a local ski destination with particularly good conditions.
After all, part of the adventure is discovering where the best snow takes us!
We'll monitor snow, trail, and weather conditions as each outing approaches to select the best available destination.
All outings are subject to snow, weather, and safe driving conditions.
For Saturday outings, we'll aim to announce the destination by the Wednesday before whenever possible, but no later than 12 Noon on Friday.
For Wednesday outings, we'll aim to announce the destination by the Monday before whenever possible, but no later than 12 Noon on Tuesday.
All announcements, including destination details, last-minute changes, and cancellations, will be communicated through the CNSC Google Group.
Transportation is on your own, but carpooling is encouraged!
Sharing the drive is a great way to enjoy good conversation, save on travel expenses, and get to know fellow skiers before you even reach the trails.
Use the CNSC Google Group to let others know if you're looking for a ride or have room for additional skiers. Include where you'll be leaving from and how many people you can accommodate.
To connect with others, send an email to the CNSC Google Group at:
cayuganordicski@googlegroups.com
In the subject line, let everyone know what you're looking for. For example:
"CNSC Day Trip — January 9 — Looking for a Ride"
Or:
"CNSC Day Trip — January 9 — Room for Two"
Don't wait until the last minute! Start the conversation early, make your travel plans, and enjoy the company of fellow skiers along the way.
After all, getting there can be part of the adventure! ❄️🌲
