Ski Tour Information

Looking for someone to cross country ski with?

The heart of Cayuga Nordic Ski Club (CNSC) is our ski tours. Ski touring can either be skiing on un-groomed or groomed trails. Depending on your preference and the trail conditions, one can either ski classic style or skate ski.

For the 2022 - 2023 season, you do not need to be a member of CNSC to participate in our ski tours.

Please check the club Google Calendar for the current list of upcoming tours. We are always adding new tours so check back often. In addition, subscribe to our GoogleGroups and join our private Facebook group for information on last minute tours and current ski conditions.

Need to rent cross country ski equipment? Check out our list of places.

Cayuga Nordic Ski Club is looking for Tour Leaders to lead a tour this winter! You do not need to be an experienced skier to lead a tour.

Places to Ski

We have lots of local places to enjoy cross country skiing. A short list of places popular with our Club follows - some close to Ithaca, New York and some a little bit further away.

We highly recommend to check current trail conditions before heading there. You can do this either through the tour location website/Facebook (if available) or you can post a question on our CNSC Google Group or in our private Facebook group. Our Google Group members are very resourceful on helping you with all kinds of information on trail conditions, where to ski, ski equipment, waxing, etc.

Cayuga Nordic Ski Club is looking for Tour Leaders!

We are looking for Tour Leaders to lead tours this winter. You can lead a tour on any day of the week - weekdays and/or weekends. Choose a day and time that works for you. Tours can be 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours depending on your schedule. Be aware of daylight hours when choosing a time for the tour. You do not need to be an experienced skier to lead a tour - if you have some experience in cross country skiing, we encourage you to lead a tour.

Not sure where to lead a tour? We suggest posting that question on our Google Group or our private Facebook group if you need help in making that decision. You can also offer a popular tour called "Find the Snow" and make a decision on where as the date gets closer.

Of course, if snow conditions do not cooperate, you are free to cancel or postpone the tour. Should you need to cancel or postpone your tour, we ask that you make that decision by 7 PM the day before. In addition, we ask all Tour Leaders to send an email to the CNSC GoogleGroup by 8 PM the night before with your announcement that the tour is cancelled or postponed.

To get your ski tour on the CNSC Google calendar, please fill out this short form and get your tour on our calendar! If we have any questions or need further information, we will let you know.

Thank you very much for volunteering! Any questions, please email Jennifer Woltjen, CNSC Tour Coordinator at jenrunner2@gmail.com.
